How does it work

Products

How do the connected products work?

  • Sensors in connected dispensers collect status levels and people counters track visitor traffic. The data is picked up via Bluetooth® Low Energy by a Tork gateway or existing IT infrastructure.
  • The data is shared with the Tork IoT platform, which processes it and makes it available for user applications.
  • Users view the information in their preferred system provided by a software partner.

I have a preferred system, do you offer integrations via API?

Tork Vision Connect is our business model for API integration with partner software systems. This allows you to easily use Tork data and connected devices with your preferred software solution.

What sensors provides data?

The Tork People Counter is mounted on the ceiling and gathers foot traffic that is translated into a visitor count. It measures warm objects like humans passing under the sensor within its field of view. For the dispensers, there are different types of sensors. The sensor in the dispenser reports refill status, for example when a dispenser needs no action, can be replenished or needs to be replenished.

What is a people counter?

A people counter is a sensor that indicates the number of passages in an area or room. The sensor reports the number of counts passing through its field of view. The Tork People Counter is mounted on the ceiling.

How accurate is the data from people counters?

People counters provide useful analytic data, but it isn’t absolute. We want to avoid using cameras – instead, we measure the heat signature of people. The sensors indicate a cleaning need and let you gather actionable data for your building. The data can be used to further optimize your cleaning activities over time.

How accurate is the data for connected dispensers?

The dispenser refill status is based on algorithms, making sure that refilling takes place when needed. Historical consumption figures are useful information, however it’s important to refill only when the status shows yellow or red to ensure consumption can be calculated correctly. Refilling should always be done with full bundles or rolls. Any broken bundle or half roll will negatively influence the statistics.

What do you mean by real-time data?

Real-time data means that information from the dispenser is transferred to the application within less than 10 minutes. The short delay is due to energy-saving settings which help reduce the need for frequent battery changes. Even if the status of an individual dispenser updates with a slight lag, the refilling action is still registered, and the task is removed from the cleaning plan.

Are the sensors and gateways safe to use?

Tork sensors and gateways follow applicable rules and regulations, such as CE marking, UKCA, FCC and IC. Search the products on the Tork website to find more details on regulatory information.
