How to install a Tork hand soap dispenser

Soap dispensers are key to maintaining high hand hygiene standards in your facility, whether in restrooms or kitchens. So, what's the secret for them to run smoothly? It begins with a proper setup, making sure your units are always ready for action.

Luckily, Tork soap dispensers are straightforward to install. We've put together a simple guide that makes it effortless for your maintenance staff to place any type of Tork soap dispenser in your facility, whether it's on a wall, mirror, or counter. Let's dive into the setup, so your team can handle installations with confidence and ease!

How to install Tork hand soap dispensers on a wall

Wall-mounted soap dispensers help keep wash stations clutter-free and are a great option in spacious restrooms and kitcens.

Here's a step-by-step guide you can share with your employees on how to install Tork wall soap dispensers:

Step 1: Choose the right location

First, choose a fitting spot for your unit. Be mindful of making dispensers accessible to as many people as possible in your facility. In other words, visitors and employees alike should be able to easily wash their hands whenever they need to.

Next, make sure to allow at least 6 inches of space between the bottom of the dispenser and anything below it. That minimises obstructions, helping users wash their hands comfortably. This is especially important for automatic soap dispensers, which use sensor technology to detect movement underneath them. Basically, the “6 inches rule” helps ensure the dispenser doesn't release soap unnecessarily, which avoids mess and product waste.

Step 2: Install the drilling template

You’ll find the drilling template included with the dispenser.

Start by checking if there are holes on the wall from previous fixtures that match the holes in the stencil. If not, once you've chosen the area you will mount the dispenser on, use the template to mark spots on the wall and drill new holes. Then, align the drilling stencil with the holes you made on the wall, secure it using tape, and fasten it with the wall anchors.

Step 3: Mount the dispenser

Once you've securely mounted the template, align the back of the dispenser with the template, and use a screwdriver to secure it with four screws.

Once you have successfully mounted the unit, fill the battery pack with four Type-C batteries, then press it into the dispenser until it clicks. The LED indicator should then turn yellow.

Step 4: Insert the refill bottle

To insert the hand soap refill, first twist the lid of the bottle until it clicks. Then, insert the refill bottle into the dispenser, nozzle down, until it slots into place. It’s that simple!

Keep in mind that Tork dispensers are compatible with a wide range of Tork skincare products, including not only hand soap, but also hand sanitiser and body wash.

Step 5: Close the dispenser

Simply close the lid and lock it using the Tork key (which your facility manager may have provided), and the dispenser will be ready to use.

How to install Tork hand soap dispensers on a mirror

Installing Tork soap dispensers on a mirror is the way to go when your restroom has limited space or if mirrors take up the whole wall.

Just ask your maintenance team to follow these five easy set-up steps:

Step 1: Choose the right location

First, you need to choose a suitable area for your dispenser. Be mindful that just like with wall-mounted units, there should be at least 6 inches of space beneath it.

Step 2: Prepare the surface

Before you install the dispenser, make sure that the mirror surface you chose is flat, clean, and dry.

Step 3: Mount the dispenser

To mount your unit, peel the protective layers from the tape on the back, exposing the sticky adhesive. Then, fix the dispenser onto the chosen location, ensuring it is straight, and hold it in place for 30 seconds.

Once you have successfully mounted the dispenser, don’t place the refill bottle or batteries in the dispenser for at least 30 minutes. After this time, fill the battery pack with four Type-C batteries, then press it into the dispenser until it clicks. The LED indicator should then turn yellow.

Step 4: Insert the refill bottle

To insert the hand soap refill, first twist the lid of the bottle until it clicks. Then, insert the refill bottle into the dispenser, nozzle down, until it fits into place.

How to install a Tork hand soap dispenser on a counter

Tork counter mount dispensers have a modern and intuitive design, making them a great option if you want the unit to fit in seamlessly with the rest of your wash station.

To install Tork counter mount dispensers, just share the following steps with your employees:

Step 1: Prepare the counter

First, make sure the counter is suitable for the dispenser. This means you need a 0.7 to 2 inches thick hole next to the sink and a 0.063 to 3 inches thick counter top.

Step 2: Insert the faucet

Consider that the ideal location for the faucet is at least 6 inches from the water jet, and 1.5 to 3.5 inches away from the edge of the sink. Once you’ve decided its position, insert the faucet into the hole, using the detailed image in the instructions manual to make sure that each part is in the right place.

Step 3: Choose the right location for the dispenser

Now, choose the desired spot for the dispenser on the wall beneath the sink. Note that it should have at least 2 inches of space around it, and the dispenser and faucet should be a maximum of 6 feet apart. Once you've chosen the spot, open the dispenser using one of the side buttons, and route the harness and wire away from the work area.

Step 4: Mount the dispenser

After ensuring the installation surface is flat and plumb, mount the dispenser to the wall using double-sided tape or screws.

You can then use a flat bit screwdriver to slide the dosage adjuster, depending on whether you want to release a medium or high soap dose. A medium dose reduces product usage and may be helpful in high-traffic areas, while a high dose may be preferred in other settings.

Step 5: Connect the hoses

Now that the dispenser is safely installed, you can connect the hoses to attach it to the faucet. The tube connector should be positioned backward at a 45-degree angle. Finally, connect the harness to the power system.

Step 6: Insert the batteries

Once the hoses are connected, you can insert four Type-D batteries into the power system located inside the dispenser.

Step 7: Place the refill bottle

To add the soap refill, first remove the cap straight off the bottle. Then, pull down the lever in the dispenser and push the refill bottle down into the slot. Once the refill bottle is safely installed, close the dispenser lid.

Step 8: Activate the dispenser

Finally, press the prime button 10 times to activate.

After your maintenance team has followed these steps, your guests and employees can enjoy the convenience of the new soap dispensers in your restrooms and kitchens, setting the stage for a smooth, user-friendly experience. Remember, most Tork models feature a LED refill indicator, so ask your cleaning staff to watch for it to keep soap levels in check.
