How to refill a Tork coreless toilet paper holder

Whether you’re in charge of a restaurant or an office building, you know better than anyone that well-maintained restrooms aren't just nice to have — they're essential. And it’s not just a matter of keeping them clean, but also sufficiently stocked. In fact, empty or missing toilet roll holders can make your bathrooms look untidy, give a bad impression of your facility, and waste toilet paper. [1]

But you can stay on top of your bathroom dispensers by training your staff on the proper way to do refills. We'll help you with an easy five-step guide that your teams can follow to restock coreless toilet rolls into Tork coreless toilet paper holders. No matter if this is novel information for a new recruit or a refresher for more experienced members, ensuring everyone has the same baseline knowledge helps achieve consistency and minimize operational disruptions for your business.

Our easy step-by-step guide

Refilling a Tork coreless toilet paper dispenser is simple when you follow our easy instructions. We'll walk you through the process so you can do your job effectively:

Here's how increasing hygiene and efficiency in your drive-thru can benefit your establishment:

Step 1: Unlock the dispenser

To refill a Tork coreless toilet paper holder, you first need to unlock the unit. You will likely have gotten the necessary key from your facility manager, or it could be stored somewhere safe, like in a maintenance office.
To unlock the dispenser, just insert the key into the lock on the top of the unit and turn it clockwise until you can pull the cover open.

Step 2: Remove toilet paper leftovers

Once the cover is open, check for any loose toilet paper pieces that may have gotten stuck inside the dispenser and remove them.

Step 3: Prepare the dispenser for a new toilet roll

After removing any residues, slide the toilet roll shelf from the right side of the dispenser to the left side until it clicks in place. This is where the spare coreless toilet roll sits until the primary roll runs out.

Preparing a horizontal 2-roll model

If needed, you can move the sliding door to the left or the right by grabbing the handle below the dispenser and dragging it to the desired position.

Preparing vertical 2-roll and 4-roll models

For the vertical 2-roll and 4-roll models, when the dispenser is fully open, locate the lower spindle at the back of the unit. Swing it forward, pull the spindle towards you, and extend the mandrel.

Step 4: Insert the new coreless toilet roll

Once you are happy with the preparation of the dispenser, you are ready to insert the new toilet paper. But before jumping ahead, check whether the dispenser is horizontal (the rolls are next to each other inside) or vertical (one toilet roll is on top of the other).
For a horizontal toilet paper dispenser
  1. Push the sliding door to the side that is empty and needs to be refilled (usually, it´s already in that position).
  2. Load the new roll onto the spindle, flat side of the roll first.
  3. Gently open the glue seal and let the paper tail hang down —this makes it easier for users to grab the product.
Keep in mind that if the dispenser is completely empty and needs two rolls, you simply need to load the second roll in the same way as the first.

For a vertical toilet paper dispenser
  1. Make sure the spindle is in front of you.
  2. Slide a new coreless roll onto the spindle. The paper should feed from the top and hang over the front, facing you.
  3. Push the spindle and toilet paper roll upward until they click into place above the existing roll.

If replacing both rolls:
  1. Remove the spindle completely.
  2. Load the first roll onto the spindle (this will go in the upper position).
  3. Insert the spindle into the top slot.
  4. Add the second roll below and click it into place.

Step 5: Close and lock the toilet roll dispenser

Now that you have refilled the toilet paper holder, you need to make sure it is secure for the next user. So, for both the horizontal and vertical dispensers, push the cover up until it clicks into place, then insert the key and turn it counterclockwise until the unit is locked.
